Jim Baen was both a mentor and a friend, and I have done some of my best work for him. When Jim died unexpectely last year, I lost a friend of 25 years, and the greatest influence on me as a science fiction artist. For the second collection from one of Jim's last projects, the web site http://www.baens-universe.com, I decided to do another portrait of Jim, this time in his later years with his signiture gray beard.
